Bios Is Blue Wont Let Me Change Anything

  • Bios 1302 Wont let me change FCLK Freq!!

So I had BIOS 1202 previsouly and I set my FCLK Frequency to 800mhz to give me right decimal with BCLK 125mhz which Results in

800 X 125 = 1000 or 1Ghz which is the value I target for stable system with BCLK overclocked.

Now after I updated to the newly today released BIOS version 1302... I have hard time changing FCLK figure to 800mhz!! when I save and exit the bios the system shutsdown twice and reverts the FCLK back to 1 Ghz !

here is screenshot of both setting in BIOS and in Windows to show that what ever numbers I put in FCLK it just reverts it back to 1 GHZ

please fix asus this is crucial for ppl who overclock using BCLK like me..

and you can see its not changed... its still runing 1250mhz which is 1Ghz FCLK
it should run 1000mhz because the value of BCLK is 125 .. that means : 125x8=1000mhz

  • So I reverted to BIOS version 1202 and now I can change FCLK speed normally

    here is screeny

  • I hope ASUS support looks into this... changing FCLK on BIOS version 1302 is impossible now
  • Hi, can you tell me where to get the 1302 bios please ?
  • You can find BIOS updates on the ASUS website for your motherboard.

Hi Chino, I see in you sig that you have asus maximus viii extreme, although I use Asus Maximus Impact VIII but they both use same BIOS..
can you please confirm that you can change your FCLK in the Tweakers Paradise section or not?

    Thank you

Thank you. He is using the M8 Impact... :)
  • 1 Attachment(s)

    AKABAR,
I am using an Extreme, with the FLCK on auto, system agent clock is 1000mhz, haven't tried changing it

    Attachment 54380

  • If you are using bios 1302 try changing FCLK to 800mhz see if it changes in windows please
  • so after hero alfa is availlable, the "old" hero has no more support? all the maximus viii range has a bios update but original hero not, its because it is such a great product or as i think and is usual the support is dead allready?

They cant possibly end the support for the hero viii already! Its not even out for a year...
  • look at the asus support site, they forgot about this model?
look at the software updates (as usual)
i never use the asus site for software update as they dont even bother to update it
look at other brands websites and all is "shown"

I am using an MVIII Extreme, 1202 is the latest bios,
Is there a reason you prefer a blck of 125 over 100?
  • lol, your correct, I didn't realize there was a 1302, not sure if I;ll update everything working spiffy
  • I came across this exact same problem yesterday on my maximus hero viii with bios 1402. I was trying a bit of bclk overclocking with a lower multi so I set the fclk to 400mhz and the bclk to 152 with a x33 multi for a 5016mhz cpu overclock. I've been trying for a while to get over 5ghz stable with my 6600k as I can get it stable at 4.9ghz/1.360v no problem.

So after changing the fclk to 400mhz and exiting the bios the pc rebooted itself twice then actually loaded into windows with the fclk at 1519mhz... I rebooted again to recheck the bios and it was back to 1ghz x the 152 bclk i had set was giving me 1519mhz. Needless to say I went back to 100 bclk and a 49 multi so I could keep the fclk at 1ghz...

  • What effect did flck at 1500 have on your system or did you just change back without testing anything
  • I just rebooted as soon as I saw it at 1519mhz. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the short time the system was in windows with a 1519fclk.

Tried a couple more times to change the fclk setting in the bios but it just changes it back by itself so went back to the regular multi overclock.

Yeah same problem.. I contacted ASUS they said i Should RMA.. but its not that big of a deal ...
didnt get good results and scores with BCLK 250mhz
  • They said you should RMA? Something that worked perfectly well with all bios' previous to 1302 then suddenly stops working with bios 1302 and 1402 and Asus are trying to say its the motherboard at fault and not their bios? lol typical.. So I guess no fix for this will be forthcoming in any future bios releases..

same thoughts too... i will try to flash the MEI Firmware to another version or newer ones if available.. I read that MEI has direct influence on FCLK

I am currently using the firmware version and MEI drivers from your other thread and have the same fclk issue. Are there newer versions out already?
  • I have the newest MEI version (1202 or similar I think; I updated that by itself) on an M8G board (1402 BIOS) and it has the same FCLK issue -- the setting simply doesn't work. I stopped trying to BCLK overclock because of that.

Now at least I know that flashing back to the 1202 BIOS should make it work again. I'm going to do that now.

Edit: Confirming that I now have the newest MEI (1202) with the older 1202 BIOS installed. All three manual FCLK settings work with no double-booting.

If only I had seen this thread while I was experimenting with BCLK originally...

  • its the same one
    v11.0.0.1202

But am begining to think that this is INTEL's doing being mean to non-K intel cpus
Read this you might get insight about why you can't OC BCLK

    http://hexus.net/tech/news/mainboard...c-koed-asrock/

Comes down to two choices then: either run your Skylake processor with known bugs and be able to OC using old BIOS or have known bugs removed via microcode update and kiss OCing bye bye using NEW BIOS.

  • No problems here -- my 6600K doesn't experience the bug. Only Hyper-Threaded Skylakes do.

I don't think it is intel's doing because the fclk issue is also present in bios 1302 but the microcode update didn't come until bios update 1402.
